What criteria does HireArt use when reviewing my app?

HireArt uses different criteria for each job to recommend a candidate. We determine these criteria by talking to the employer and assessing what are the important qualities they are looking for in their employees.

You can normally determine what these criteria are by reading the requirements section of any job description. At times however, it is possible that the employer is looking for other, softer qualities that were not listed out in the job description.

We also look for a few key features across all applications. In general, we look for candidates who are:

  • Professional - This means a variety of things but it involves wearing appropriate clothes during the video, recording the video in a quiet place and speaking about your experience in a way that is appropriate for an employer. We also look for professional writing, including proper capitalization and punctuation.
  • Clear - We are looking for applicants who are clear in their thoughts and conclusions. This includes being able to tell your personal story in a clear and concise way.
  • Fit with your career - When you are making a career change, most employers want to understand why. We look for candidates who can clearly articulate why they are applying for this job and how this makes sense with their career aspirations.
